An Old Irish Blessing

 Stpat6

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I first heard this 9 years ago sung at my aunt's funeral.  I fell in love with the sweet, haunting melody.  It spoke volumes to me.

Almost exactly a year later my cousins and I sang it at my grandfather's funeral.  He was a true Irishman, red hair, name and all.

Aside from the musicality and emotional tie of this blessing I love it's message.  I love how pure and simple it is.

So, today, on this St. Patrick's day, I wish all you many blessings and fortunes.

May the road rise to meet YOU.

Peace, love and good friends.

P.S. Now go have a green beer!
